  • Public Access to Museums, Galleries, and Artifacts

Currently, major cities in Indonesia, including Medan, are actively working to rekindle the creativity of artists in order to advance the development of art products within the country, aligning with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities. Fostering creativity requires a close collaboration between artists and the community, with the aim of creating harmony and deep appreciation for the arts, which contributes to the goal of making cities more inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Art galleries serve as vital spaces where artists and the public can interact, exchange appreciation for local art, and develop a love for the works of Indonesian artists, thus fostering a sense of community and culture within cities. However, in the design of an art gallery, creativity is essential to ensure that the gallery is not just a space for displaying art but a manifestation of creativity in itself, further promoting the sustainability and inclusivity of urban spaces. Therefore, contemporary architecture plays a crucial role in supporting the design of art galleries, with the purpose of fostering the development of creativity among artists and the local community, ultimately contributing to the advancement of SDG 11's objectives for sustainable urban development.
