SDGs 12: Responsible Consumption 2022

The responsible consumption and production program aims to encourage sustainable lifestyles and promote environmentally friendly production practices in Indonesia. USU plays an active role in educating students, staff, and the public about the importance of responsible consumption, efficient waste management and the application of green technology in production. Through collaboration with external partners, USU also strives to develop innovations and solutions that promote sustainable consumption and production in various sectors, including industry, agriculture, and tourism.

During our visit to Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) from April 4th to April 14th, we were impressed by the significant progress made in the pyrolysis project. The commitment shown by both the administration and students surpassed our expectations, with a deep understanding of the project's technical, financial, and social aspects. Key achievements included the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and Agreement, solidifying our collaboration. Noteworthy is the formation of "Plastik Wise" by USU's environmental engineering students, dedicated to operating the machine and promoting waste management activities on campus. EWC values this partnership and is confident in perfecting the system for broader impact beyond the campus, expressing gratitude for the commitment demonstrated by USU. Evidence Evidence
