USU Strengthens Commitment to Protect Tapanuli Orangutan Through Research and Collaboration with Conservation Institutions USU’s conservation work is not limited to a single species. The university has put in place institutional measures to identify, monitor, and protect IUCN Red Listed and nationally protected species in ecosystems associated with its operations. For 2024, the university reported a total campus carbon footprint of 734.29 metric tons of CO₂—equivalent to roughly 0.0156 tons per person per year—according to internal calculations. Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Achieves High Marks in 2023 Award from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology USU PR - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) achieved a high score in the awards conducted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for 2023. With a Budget Performance Score (NKA) of 93.21%, USU was awarded the "Very Good" rating and secured the top position in the category of State Universities with Legal Entity status.
