Sustainable Policy

Universitas Sumatera Utara has a strong commitment on supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals in all aspects. In the procurement aspect, the Universitas Sumatera Utara has formulated the Sustainable Procurement Policy. The Sustainable Procurement Policy is a part of University Trustee Board Regulation No.3 Year 2021 on General Policy of Univeritas Sumatera Utara 2021-2026. The policy States the following.

• Develop the infrastructure to meet all of the academic needs in the new adaption era and environmentally friendly.
• Manage and make use all of the campus facilities in optimal and integrated way to meet the academic needs.
• Develop the extracurricular facilities the sustainable student activities
• Enhancing the functions of all facilities in order to increase the university income by considering the sustainable priority
• Considering the sustainability mandatory for all procurement in the university
• Strongly support the government regulation of purchasing high efficient home appliances for university needs
• Promote the specifications and selections of products and service that reducing environmental impacts and positively impact on society and the economy
• Strongly encourage the procurement from local supplier as they meet the minimal criteria and specifications
• Minimize the waste in all supply chains
• In developing a new building in the university, it must meet the criteria of green building issued by the government

Dalam rangka mendukung terciptanya kampus hijau dan berkelanjutan serta memperkuat tanggung jawab Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) terhadap lingkungan sesuai dengan ketentuan Keputusan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia Nomor I429/MENKES/SK/XII/2006 tentang Pedoman Penyelenggaraan Kesehatan Lingkungan, dengan ini disampaikan kebijakan pengelolaan lingkungan sebagai bentuk komitmen USU untuk mencapai netralitas karbon pada tahun 2029. Kebijakan ini berlaku bagi seluruh civitas akademika dan mitra keija sama USU, mencakup berbagai aspek operasional kampus.

Universitas Sumatera Utara is dedicated to the advancement of sustainability and the mitigation of climate change by implementing a comprehensive Sustainability and Climate Action Policy. The objective of this policy is to mitigate environmental effects, encourage the efficient utilization of resources, and incorporate sustainable practices into all academic and operational activities. Key objectives encompass the promotion of responsible waste management, the promotion of renewable energy initiatives, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the enhancement of energy efficiency.

Furthermore, the institution promotes awareness and engagement among students, staff, and stakeholders by means of education, research, and community collaboration. University of Sumatera Utara  is committed to contribute to global climate goals and establish a resilient and environmentally responsible campus for future generations by incorporating sustainability principles into decision-making processes.

Universitas Sumatera Utara  is committed to upholding integrity, transparency, and accountability through the implementation of an Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy. This policy prohibits all forms of bribery, corruption, and unethical practices in academic, administrative, and operational activities. It establishes clear guidelines for ethical conduct, conflict of interest management, and responsible decision-making.

 Universitas Sumatera Utara also promotes awareness and compliance among staff, students, and stakeholders through education and internal controls. Reporting mechanisms are provided to ensure that any suspected misconduct can be addressed promptly and fairly. Through this commitment, the institution fosters a culture of integrity and supports good governance practices.
