Competing under the theme “Innovating Integrated Agriculture for Climate-Resilient Future,” the CollaCel Team presented a project entitled “COLLASHIELD: Smart Active Packaging Based on Fish Collagen and Corn Nanocellulose to Reduce Tomato Food Loss” under the subthemes Food Security and Climate Adaptation.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) strengthened its international engagement and expanded its institutional networks in Africa through its participation in the QS Africa Forum 2026, held on 9–10 July 2026 at the Sheraton Addis in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has reaffirmed its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its contribution to the Technical Exchange on Zoonotic Malaria Surveillance between Indonesia and Malaysia, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 15 to 17 April 2026. The initiative focused on strengthening surveillance and diagnostic capacity for Plasmodium knowlesi, a zoonotic malaria parasite of increasing public health concern, while also promoting cross-border collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia. The activity directly reflects the spirit of SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a delegation from Universitas Satya Terra Bhinneka for a benchmarking visit focused on the management of the SDGs Center and the development of a Sustainability Living Lab (25/02/2026). The visit served as a platform for knowledge exchange and discussion on strengthening sustainability initiatives within higher education institutions.
