Medan — BumiKita Fest 2025 was successfully held as part of an initiative to encourage greater environmental awareness among young people. The event, organized by the Sabi Project, took place at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, in commemoration of World Environment Day.

Adopting the theme “The Role of Youth in Protecting the Earth,” the festival aimed to highlight the importance of youth participation in addressing environmental challenges. The event served as a platform to foster discussion, collaboration, and practical understanding of sustainability issues, particularly in the context of increasing environmental degradation.

One of the main activities of the festival was a Green Talkshow, which featured speakers from the North Sumatra Environmental and Forestry Agency as well as representatives from environmental communities. The session provided participants with insights into current environmental concerns and emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable practices in everyday life.

The Project Leader of BumiKita Fest 2025 stated that environmental protection does not solely depend on large-scale initiatives, but also on consistent individual actions. She emphasized that young people play a crucial role in shaping a more sustainable future through awareness and active participation.

The event received positive responses from participants, particularly students, who showed enthusiasm in engaging with the topics discussed. BumiKita Fest 2025 is expected to contribute to strengthening environmental awareness and encouraging concrete actions among the younger generation.
