Universitas Sumatera Utara Appoints SDGs Center Management to Strengthen Sustainability Initiatives

Universitas Sumatera Utara has officially appointed the management team of its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center through Rector’s Decree No. 3973/UN5.1.R/SK/DI.05.00/2025, issued on 23 September 2025 in Medan.

The establishment of this management team reflects the university’s strong commitment to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), recognizing its role as a higher education institution actively involved in addressing global challenges and supporting sustainable development.

Under the decree, the SDGs Center management is entrusted with key responsibilities, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting SDGs-related programs and activities across the university. The Center is expected to serve as a strategic platform for integrating sustainability into academic, research, and community engagement initiatives.

The appointed structure consists of a responsible leader, chairperson, secretary, and several coordinators covering research, community empowerment and partnerships, as well as data, information, and publication. This comprehensive structure is designed to ensure effective coordination and implementation of SDGs initiatives within the university.

The decree is effective from September to December 2025, marking a significant step in strengthening institutional governance and accelerating the university’s contribution to sustainable development at local, national, and global levels

Through this initiative, Universitas Sumatera Utara continues to reinforce its role as a sustainability-driven institution committed to advancing inclusive and impactful development.
