According to Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, promoting inclusivity and fairness within the workforce is integral to USU’s mission: “At USU, every member of our academic community—regardless of gender, position, or background—has the right to be heard, represented, and respected. Our policies on association, participation, and workplace safety reflect our shared commitment to equality and decent work.”

Medan, Indonesia, December 12, 2024 — Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) continues to reinforce its commitment to freedom of association, gender equality, and fair labor practices, ensuring that all employees—academic and non-academic—enjoy the right to participate in professional organizations and workplace dialogues.

Guided by Rector’s Regulation No. 21 of 2017, Article 21 paragraph (1) h, USU guarantees that every employee has the freedom to join professional and academic associations. This approach fosters inclusivity, equal opportunity, and institutional collaboration, directly aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
