Measures Against Discrimination

USU has a non-discriminatory admission policy, such as the rules on procedures and requirements for new student admissions written in the 2017 USU Rector's Regulations that can be accessed by all. In the regulation, one principle is stated, namely fairness, where new student admissions do not discriminate against religion, ethnicity, race, gender, age, social position, region, physical condition, and level of economic ability of prospective students. This indicates that USU is committed to implementing the principle of non-discrimination so that all people from different backgrounds have access to a decent education at USU.
USU has implemented a system that allows universities to track the origins and background of prospective new students who have been accepted into USU. This system is in the form of data collection for new students by filling out a registration form on the USU website link provided when the student has passed the university entrance selection. This form contains not only the student's personal data that is requested, but also the data of the student's parents, thus enabling the university to track the background/condition of the student.
USU has been recruiting students. staff, and lecturers on a non-discriminatory basis, including for the under-represented group. The selection of admissions is informed to the public openly and can be accessed by anyone and anywhere. Applicants who take part in the selection can come from minority groups, underprivileged families, persons with disabilities, or refugees as long as they meet the specified requirements.
USU strongly supports efforts to prevent sexual violence on campus as stated in the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Permendikbudristek) Number 30 of 2021 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS). This is evidenced by USU by forming the USU PPKS Task Force (Satgas), which is currently still in the selection process for determining and forming the USU PPKS Task Force team. The purpose of the establishment of the PPKS Task Force is to be able to handle and prevent sexual violence within USU. In addition, the PPKS task force will develop guidelines on how to handle and prevent this from happening.
USU has a Directorate of Bureaucratic Reform and Transformation whose functions are related to efforts to make fundamental reforms and changes to the government administration system, especially regarding institutional aspects (organization), management (business processes) and human resources of the apparatus. USU also strongly supports diversity, equality, and inclusion, where policies related to these are part of USU's code of ethics.
USU supports the creation of good mental health for students in supporting academic activities, so it is necessary to provide assistance to students in dealing with problems faced both in the academic field and in the process of student life in the campus environment. This has led USU to open several counseling service units for students. One of them is free counseling for students under the auspices of the USU Integrated Service Unit (ULT). In addition, USU also has a Student Counseling and Guidance Health Service Unit (UPKBM) which is also a free counseling service unit for USU students under the auspices of the USU Student and Alumni Bureau (BKK).
USU fully supports the provision of access to facilities for persons with disabilities in the campus environment. Several facilities, such as special lanes for disabilities at the office entrance and special toilets for people with disabilities.
USU has made various efforts in providing support services for persons with disabilities. The form of service for people with disabilities is implemented in the form of community service activities carried out by academics at USU during 2021. The service activities are in the form of training and skill improvement for people with disabilities in the community. Support services for persons with disabilities are also actualized in the form of efforts to improve the skills of prospective social workers through Bisindo sign language training, where these prospective social workers will later provide services to all levels of society, including the deaf.
USU is committed to providing services for people with disabilities, one of which is a form of commitment by providing a disability service office for students and lecturers with disabilities. The facilities provided to students with disabilities are intended to assist students in learning. The support provided is in the form of available facilities, as well as learning materials needed to encourage the success and integration of students into higher education activities.
USU has provided funding allocations related to accommodation for people with disabilities, such as the availability of dormitories specifically for people with disabilities. This is intended to make it easier for people with disabilities while studying at USU.
