Medan, Indonesia — August 1, 2024 — Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has taken a decisive step to deepen its commitment to genuinely inclusive education by forging a formal partnership with the National Commission on Disabilities of the Republic of Indonesia. This collaboration was officially cemented with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on June 14, 2022. The core objective of the partnership is to enhance the integration of inclusive practices across the university’s academic curriculum, research endeavors, and community service projects.
Enhancing Accessibility Across the Campus In line with the initiative, USU has undertaken significant physical improvements to campus accessibility. Notable upgrades include the widespread installation of wheelchair ramps, guiding blocks to assist students with visual impairments, and accessible toilet facilities. These infrastructural changes are designed to ensure that every individual, regardless of physical ability, can navigate the university environment with ease and independence.
